“I love life and nature. My connection with nature was formed during my childhood through my relationship with animals. I grew up in a peaceful Italian town surrounded by the countryside and the mountains.
Attracted by the sea, I left to do my university studies in Nice (France) in cellular and molecular biology to better understand life (doctorate then postdoc at the University of Lausanne). The discovery of the microscopic world of cells that make up all living beings helped me see the subtle, invisible and deep links that connect each being on this planet Earth, and beyond in the Universe that surrounds us (the atoms that make up our bodies are really stardust!).
I am deeply amazed by life and convinced that there is an urgent need to respect life in all its forms. This is one of the reasons why I have also undertaken to transmit current knowledge of biology, to talk about cells, genes and the microscopic world through my books and popular science articles”.
